Gneiss

Some rocks are pure pieces of stone and others have so many layers and different colours it makes you wonder about their origin. What events happened in times past to fuse the different materials together? There is so much history on the ground we walk on that it definitely makes me take pause sometimes to really think about that. I have always had an interest in cool looking rocks and still stop to admire some unique ones when I'm out on a walk/hike. This painting was inspired by one of the rocks that looks like it's seen a little something along it's journey.
